August Labor Data Preview (@DonMiami3, MacroEdge Chief Economist)

Good Sunday evening MacroEdge readers and community,

This month starts a very busy time for us on the data front and for financial markets with the Summer now largely over. Hopefully, you all got to enjoy a fabulous Labor Day weekend with family and friends - I was able to get a few rounds of golf in myself and will cut this evening's report a bit shorter than usual on length with how my right elbow is feeling (should be good to go by Wednesday for our midweek report covering our comprehensive August labor market outlook). Given that most of the critical August data is coming out over the next 2 weeks, our report next weekend and the following Sunday will be very in-depth deep dives on what’s going on for the ever-so-important labor market which the Federal Reserve is now increasingly concerned with. In a special global report update, we’ll also have global data coverage of Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. We expect the labor market to show continued cooling through the remainder of the year and will ignore statistical noise as it appears.

If you didn’t see on our X post, MacroEdge was featured in NBC Las Vegas covering the impact of a weakening employment market in the Silver State and how the Culinary Union may impact the political landscape in the state. While we do not take political sides - our real estate expert Ulysses Awsumb spoke clearly on potential impacts the Union may have.

We’ll have more on the real estate front with the rollout of MacroEdge’s alternative real estate data points and viewpoints through our real estate team in the coming weeks. Stay tuned as we roll out more of our 2025 roadmap. If you haven’t yet joined our MacroEdge Ozone community and transformative research, you can do so below for two weeks:

MacroEdge Ozone Two-Week Access

In this edition of our Sunday Ozone weekly report, I will dive into the latest underlying trends in our labor market and discuss a brief preview for the more in-depth data preview we’ll be releasing as the midweek report on Wednesday for our August labor market report expectations.
